In this post, I want to show you every ghost and describe my way of painting them. I started with cutting off and glueing 4 Chainrasps, 2 Grimghast Reapers and 1 Glaivewraith Stalker from my Soul Wars box.

Jak ju偶 zauwa偶yli艣cie na zdj臋ciach, wykona艂am te偶 moje pierwsze podej艣cie do techniki wet blending. Mam nadziej臋, 偶e uznacie ten pierwszy raz za ca艂kiem udany 馃槈. Jako, 偶e wet blending wydawa艂 si臋 najtrudniejsz膮 rzecz膮 w tym malowaniu, od niego zacz臋艂am.

I wanted to speed up painting, so I decided to use Contrast series from GW. Therefore I had to spray all miniatures with Wraithbone. As you can see on photos I also tried wet blending technique. I hope that you find this first time successful 馃槈. Since this technique seemed the hardest part, I started with it.

W tej technice zdecydowa艂am si臋 u偶y膰 Dark Sea Blue od Vallejo, Boreal Green od Scale 75 i Sotek Green od Citadel. Wet blending polega na malowaniu najpierw jednym kolorem na figurce, po czym w miejscu troch臋 oddalonym od pierwszej farby malujemy drug膮. Potem powoli malujemy drug膮 farb膮 kieruj膮c si臋 ku tej pierwszej i jeszcze kawa艂ek na tej pierwszej. Wszystko robimy na mokrych farbach. Ma to na celu stworzenie g艂adkiego przej艣cia z jednej farby do drugiej. Trzeba przyzna膰, 偶e wypracowanie takiego g艂adkiego przej艣cia nie jest proste, a na domiar z艂ego wymy艣li艂am sobie trzy farby zamiast dw贸ch馃槬. Niestety do uzyskania efektu mnie zadowalaj膮cego musia艂am u偶y膰 wielu warstw farb 馃檨.

I decided to use Dark Sea Blue from Vallejo, Boreal Green from Scale 75 and Sotek Green from Citadel. In wet blending we have to put on miniature one paint. Then we put on this miniature second paint in some distance from the first paint, and continue painting towards the first paint. Then we paint on the first paint a little further with second paint. We do everything while both paints are still wet. In this technique we want to create a smooth blend from one color to another. It isn't easy. To make thing even harder, I came up with using three colors instead of two 馃槩. Therefore to achieve this, I had to put a lot of layers of paint on the mini 馃檨.

Zw艂aszcza, 偶e gdzieniegdzie doda艂am troch臋 highlight贸w. Malowanie zacz臋艂am od zamalowania kropek z farby, kt贸re powsta艂y tam gdzie nie powinny po wet blendingu 馃槈. Do kontrast贸w potrzebujemy idealnie po艂o偶ony base, bo ka偶de niedoskona艂o艣ci b臋dzie wida膰 spod kontrastu. Na p艂aszcz na艂o偶y艂am dosy膰 grub膮 warstw臋 Blood Angels Red, potem poprawi艂am highlighty Wild Rider Redem i Troll Slayer Orangem. Na 艂a艅cuchy po艂o偶y艂am bardzo du偶o Basilicanum Grey. Efekt tak mi si臋 spodoba艂, 偶e tutaj nic nie poprawi艂am 馃榾.

After struggle with wet blending, it was time for Contrasts. I have to admit that painting remaining colours took about 1h, so it was surprisingly fast. Even though I added some highlights. I started off with painting over accidental dots, which were made on Wraithbone after wet blending. Painting with Contrast requires perfect basecoat, because every defect will be seen after putting Contrast on it. On the coat I put a thick layer of Blood Angels Red, then I highlight it with Wild Rider Red and Troll Slayer Orange. For chains I used a lot of Basilicanum Grey. The effect was so good that I didn't correct anything.

Do element贸w drewnianych u偶y艂am Wyldwood. Highlighty poprawi艂am Mournfang Brownem. Szkielet pomalowa艂am Skeleton Horde, a jako highlight wykorzysta艂am Ushabti Bone i Screaming Skull. Na jednym Nighthauntcie by艂y elementy zielone i je potraktowa艂am Dark Angels Green. Do nagrobk贸w r贸wnie偶 u偶y艂am Basilicanum Grey, tylko tutaj po艂o偶y艂am cie艅sz膮 warstw臋. R贸wnie偶 efekt mnie zadowala艂, wi臋c nic nie zmienia艂am 馃槈. Efekt miedzi na 艣wieczniku uzyska艂am maluj膮c j膮 najpierw Leadbelcherem, a potem na to po艂o偶y艂am Gore-Grunta Fur. Ogie艅 pomalowany zosta艂 Waywatcher Greenem. Niestety Games Workshop wycofa艂 si臋 z produkcj膮 tego Glaze'a 馃槩. Szkoda, bo jak wida膰, mo偶na nim uzyska膰 bardzo fajne efekty.

Wooden elements were painted with Wyldwood and I used Mournfang Brown as a highlight. On skeleton I used Skeleton Horde, then I took Ushabti Bone and Screaming Skull for highlights. One Nighthaunt had green elements so I used Dark Angels Green. For gravestones I also used Basilicanum Grey, but there I put a thinner layer. I achieved Copper on candlestick by using Leadbelcher as base and Gore-Grunta Fur as colour of copper. Green fire was painted with Waywatcher Green. I'm very sad that Games Workshop removed it from production 馃槩, because as you can see, it gives brilliant results.

A jak wam si臋 podobaj膮 kamyczki do akwarium 馃榾? My艣l臋, 偶e dzi臋ki poprawkom kolorku przez Basilicanum Grey, fajnie si臋 wpasowa艂y.

On the Nighthaunt's bases I used Astrogranite. When it dried I painted it with Wyldwood. Later I drybrushed it with Dawnstone as highlight. In the end I added some grass tufts from Paint Forge馃榾. I hope that I described all the colours used. If I missed anything, let me know in comments 馃槈. Do you like aquarium pebbles 馃榾? I think that they fit well after I had painted them with Basilicanum Grey.

Tak jak uprzedza艂am zamieszcz臋 tu r贸wnie偶 swoje przemy艣lenia na temat farbek Contrast. Na pewno du偶膮 zalet膮 tych farbek jest to, 偶e malowanie jest znacznie szybsze. W ko艅cu to tak jakby艣my base, shade i pierwszy highlight po艂o偶yli na raz. To musi by膰 szybciej 馃榾. Ja podkre艣la艂am jeszcze highlight kolejnymi farbami, wi臋c troch臋 do艂o偶y艂am sobie roboty 馃檪. Musia艂am doda膰 co艣 od siebie 馃槢. Musz臋 przyzna膰, 偶e niestety te farby nie s膮 bez wad, bo trzeba bardzo uwa偶a膰 przy nak艂adaniu jednego koloru przed drugim, gdy偶 nawet ma艂e wyj艣cie poza obszar malowania, b臋dzie wida膰 po na艂o偶eniu innego koloru. W takim przypadku pozostaje nam tylko pomalowanie miejsca na nowo basem i dopiero po艂o偶enie docelowego koloru. Podsumowuj膮c bardzo przyjemnie si臋 nimi malowa艂o, efekt szybko si臋 osi膮ga. My艣l臋, 偶e mog膮 by膰 super zar贸wno dla pocz膮tkuj膮cych, gdzie u艂atwi膮 im nauczenie si臋 wszystkiego, jak i dla zaawansowanych malarzy.

Now it's time for some reflection about Contrast series. The biggest advantage of those paints is that painting is much faster. It is like we put base, shade and first highlight at one time. So it must be faster 馃榾. I had to put some extra highlights so it took me a little more time. I had to add something from me 馃槢. Unfortunately we have to be very careful, because even small crossing through the line of painting will be seen after putting contrast on it. In this situation we have to paint with base again, after that we can put contrast on miniature. To sum up, painting with contrasts is very pleasurable, especially that effects are very fast. They can be helpful for the beginners for training and for the experienced painters.

Na pocz膮tku nie mog艂am si臋 zdecydowa膰 jaki kolor jej da膰. Tote偶 nie wiem, czy uda mi si臋 powt贸rzy膰 to malowanie na jej braciach, ale b臋d臋 si臋 bardzo stara艂a 馃槈. Nie przed艂u偶aj膮c przedstawiam Spirit Hosta, kt贸ry b臋dzie moim postrachem 馃榿. Jako bazy u偶y艂am tutaj te偶 Wraithbone'a. G艂贸wnie ze wzgl臋du na to, 偶e mi kolor pasowa艂 馃槈. Potem w zag艂臋bieniach po艂o偶y艂am Boreal Green z Scale 75. Nast臋pnie na ca艂膮 figurk臋 u偶y艂am mojego ukochanego Glaze'a czyli Waywatcher Green. Po czym zrobi艂am drybrush bia艂a farb膮 i jeszcze raz, teraz ju偶 delikatnie po艂o偶y艂am Waywatcher Green. Szkielet, nagrobek, zielony ogie艅 pomalowa艂am wed艂ug tego samego schematu kolorystycznego co wcze艣niejsze duszki. Podstawka te偶 zosta艂a wykonana wed艂ug tego samego schematu 馃槈.

For dessert I want to present you the strongest unit in my warband. I'm describing it under Contrast review, because I didn't use these paints on this miniature. Actually I didn't use many colors here 馃槀. At the beginning I couldn’t decide, which color this model should have. Therefore I don't know if I will manage to get the same color on his brothers, but I will try to do my best 馃槈. Now it's time to present you the Spirit Host, who terrifies the enemies. As a basecoat I also used Wraithbone. I decided to paint with it, because the color suits me. Next in recesses I put Boreal Green from Scale 75. Later, all the miniature was painted with my beloved Glaze - Waywatcher Green. Then I drybrushed the model with white paint and I put thin layer of Waywatcher Green over it again. Skeleton, gravestone and green fire were painted with the same color scheme, which I used on earlier ghosts. The Base was made the same as bases in earlier Nighthaunts.

DeleteNo nigdy bym nie powiedzia艂a, 偶e to robota contrastami! S膮 rewelacyjni! Bardzo smuk艂e, przejrzyste przej艣cia. Nie wiem czy da艂oby si臋 to jeszcze bardziej "naturalnie" zrobi膰 (pomijaj膮c fakt, 偶e to fantasy duchy a nie jacy艣 rycerze :-D).
